Project 365

When I started this project… The following was written December 2007:   The idea?  Post a photograph a day for a year, a full 365 days. I could be traveling, or just going about my day to day, but no matter… every day, for at least a year, I’ll be posting an image to this site.  What you’ll find here is a representation of how I see the world, both with the naked eye, and through a lens.  To me they seem to be one and the same.  I see photographs everywhere I look.  I can’t help myself, I’m constantly framing the world.

The cameras… For this little project I’ll be using, primarily, a Canon 5D Mark II, a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT, a Canon SD750, and even the camera on my iPhone. I’ll indicate which one I used with the post of each picture.

December 19, 2011…  I finally decided, tentatively, to do another 365.  I’ve also decided I will primarily use the camera on my iPhone.  It’s always with me, which means I always have an opportunity to take a photo.  They key so far has been remembering to do it.  It’s been hit and miss.  I’m trying.  There’s not tons of pressure since I’m really doing this because I want to, because my world has changed, and because I want to see what happens.  It will be fun to see what this little camera gets.  What I see.

  1. Sounds exciting. Will they remind you of that day in particular or just be images that you found interesting. I think the former would be harder…

  2. I’m going to try and do a bit of both I think. If I can take something that is particular to a day or an event on a day, I’ll do that. Otherwise, if nothing unusually exciting is going on in my life on a given day, I’ll just try to take a picture of something I find interesting, strange, or beautiful.

  3. Hi from another Portlander and Project 365er! I’ve been enjoying your photographs. It was nice to come across someone from my neck of the woods doing the same thing. Looking forward to more photos…
